An innovative event for social media coverage – the introduction of the Chevrolet CRUZE at the all night Nuit Blanche street arts festival

The introduction of a new car in Canada by General Motors – the Chevrolet Cruze, created a series of innovative launch events where the Cruze was first shown off to Canadians.
I was thrilled, not one week after the Toronto Film Festival and my social media gig with Cadillac Festival Insider concluded, I was asked to join the @ChevyOnScene project.
Toronto’s Nuit Blanche all-night street arts festival provided a unique opportunity to showcase the all-new Chevrolet Cruze in some very cool ways. General Motors spared no expense in creating CRUZE Remix – …

i.shot7.com – Playing around with a real-time photo & news stream from my iPhone

Since getting my iPhone I have been thinking about a way to publish photos & news in the easiest and quickest way possible. Now, I wasn’t just talking about twitpic-ing photos or using posterous. I wanted to publish content to my own dedicated blog – because I wanted a better handle on analytics and control over the mobile design.
As well, the idea behind a lot of my news content marketing is driving traffic – somewhere. And I don’t usually see much benefit in just continuing to drive …

Social media marketing and Twittering Film Festival news with The Cadillac TIFFinsider

During August and September of 2009 I was the TIFFinsider on behalf of General Motor’s Cadillac brand in a project for the Maclaren Momentum agency. Over the course of the film festival, over fifty blog stories were posted to the TIFFinsider.ca site.
I further developed the Twitter.com/tiffinsider account. Over the course of six-weeks, the Twitter account amassed over 1,400 followers. Hundreds of exclusive tiff photos were shot and uploaded to twitPic and Flickr which saw tens of thousands of views during the campaign. Also established the TIFFinsider YouTube channel, …

shot7.com – a FREE source of entertainment news photos

shot7.com is a web-based source of entertainment news photos by a network of professional celebrity photographers.
I created shot7.com to showcase and share my news photography. I like to consider it the beginnings of a new type of photo agency – one where content is first thought in terms of how it connects, rather than just a means to commerce.
The shot7.com home page lets users know the latest photo news we’ve posted and images you can grab. Also, the blog is where we talk about the stuff that makes …

A good exclusive I kinda blew – DIANE Keaton tours Union train station in Toronto

The Scrawler, Mr. Joe Warmington, of The Toronto Sun picked up on my Diane Keaton at Union Station story and published a photo in today’s Saturday Sun. Nice, big, and in colour – which is always nice.
Its been good to see my Keaton story travel to so many news sites – and make it into print in a couple of nice places. But I personally will never be totally happy with that shoot. I will always feel I blew the Keaton exclusive. My shots should have been better considering the …

Toronto Sun: Billy Bob Thornton the day after his CBC interview at Massey Hall

It was a little surprising to see the Billy Bob Thornton interview blow up into such a big story. But when it did – and realizing he still had another show to do at Massey Hall hall that evening, I decided to head to the venue and see what the scene was like before the show. Sure enough, the story was now big enough that a large group of media and fans were buzzing about the stage door at Massey.

www.tiff.shovine.com – a new media experiment in using technology to tell breaking Toronto Film Festival celebrity news

I’ll be writing more soon about our little media experiment we conducted during the 2008 Toronto Film Festival. But I will say this…

www.tiff.shovine.com was set up by 4 people (all partners in a web design and marketing company) to use technology to report breaking celebrity news stories from the Toronto Film Festival. A news blog was set-up, and laptops, smartphones, digital cameras were packed and used with texting, email, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, Flickr, Google in the world of the Toronto Film International Festival to report celebrity news. In …

Its nice to see HoundsTV and the National Post newspaper make beautiful music together

Further proof that new media and old media can play nice together. Shinan Govani from the National Post newspaper sourced my “The Politics of the Money Shot” post from HoundsTV.com
